Yorkshire Businessman launches with special event

Welcome to the very first Yorkshire Businessman magazine, rebranded from the popular TopicUK magazine that originally launched in 2013. Due to the success of Yorkshire Businesswoman and the monthly events we hold, we made the decision to mirror this for men and as a result, welcomed more than 70 guests to Uyare Restaurant on International Men’s Day, 19th November for the official launch. Hosted for us by Leeds, Bradford and York Chamber of Commerce CEO James Mason, guests listened to our pan

Merry Christmas!

As the years seem to fly past quicker than ever, we are once again approaching Christmas and the end to another year. It’s been an incredibly busy year with Ghost Publishing, publisher of TopicUK and Yorkshire Businesswoman magazines, launching a third publication: Northern Businesswoman, covering the Northeast in October. In the current edition of TopicUK that you can read here on the website, I was concerned reading the story on page 69 about glass and the costs of recycling. I am very con

Articles submitted for publishing on our website

Here at TopicUK and our sister publication Yorkshire Businesswoman magazine, we receive a high number of press releases from PR companies and businesses alike. Although we do our best to publish as many newsworthy press releases as we can for our readers and members free of charge, many of the releases we receive require a good amount of work and input from us. If you forward a press release and want us to consider publishing free of charge, please note the following: * There should be no

Latest edition now online

The latest edition of TopicUK is now online (see menu bar). I can’t believe it is 10 years since we first launched the original TopicUK magazine covering just Wakefield. That was in 2013. We then went on to publish Kirklees/Calderdale, South Yorkshire, Leeds and even Soho in London, before we made the decision to amalgamate all editions into just one Yorkshire edition. We still have some lovely partners with us who joined us right at the beginning, we have enjoyed promoting for 10 years. Our bel

Welcome to the 56th edition of TopicUK which is available now here, as we now countdown to our tenth anniversary in early 2023. I was pleased to see the refurbishment of the iconic Taylors Corner building, featured on page 10. The building was originally the home to Hepworth’s Tailors, and this was one of the very first accounts I worked on when I started in marketing many years ago. I was tasked as a junior ironing the model’s clothes for the photography shoot which went on to appear in the b

Exciting changes ahead

We can hardly believe it’s been nine years since we first launched TopicUK covering just the Wakefield area, expanding very quickly to cover the whole of the Yorkshire region. How times have changed and now its time for a new journey as we take the TopicUK business digital. We want to do our bit for the environment and with more and more people requesting our digital services, certainly since the pandemic, this will allow us to get the news out there instantly, so we have decided to embrace thi

Do you want guaranteed promotion?

It has been some time since I last blogged. To be honest, life and work have been so hectic I don't know where the time goes. Since life returned to normal (or somewhat normal) we have been busier than ever. We have always tried to promote companies where we can, of course that is guaranteed for our partners, but everyone now wants promoting and we receive hundreds of press releases and requests for promotion each day, from all over the country. Of course, only businesses in Yorkshire are con

Is PR still expected to be free?

I have worked in the PR and marketing industry for many years. When I started there were two ways businesses could gain publicity, advertising and PR. Today the world is very different not just because we now have social media, but also because some businesses prefer to use only PR which is a good idea, people relate to a good PR story. At TopicUK and Yorkshire Businesswoman, we love to read a good PR story. What is also different is because of this, companies are not spending on advertising li

Could things be returning to normal?

It's been so busy in the office, I genuinely haven't had the time to sit down and write my blog. As we continue to grow, we are delighted to announce the signing of four new partners that we will work with over the course of 2021. You can read about these in our forthcoming edition, due to publish at the end of March. There does seem to be a light at the end of the tunnel with the pandemic. The vaccination programme is ahead of schedule and as I write this 16m people have been vaccinated, whic

A better year ahead?

Is it too late to wish everyone a happy new year? I hope not. following a short break over Christmas, January has got off to a really busy start for us as we work on the next edition of TopicUK and Yorkshire Businesswoman magazines. As we have entered another lockdown, we have been busy posting on our website and on social media for all our partners, to ensure that they receive lots of publicity as well as delivering another TopicUK printed edition across the region. We have been restricted in

Kevin reaches £1m milestone

Today is the last day of running seven marathons in just seven days that Leeds Rhinos director of rugby Kevin Sinfield is undertaking. As I write this, it has been confirmed that Kevin has raised just over £1m, an incredible amount of money for his former rugby team mate Rob Burrow who was diagnosed with motor neurone disease MND last year. I was lucky enough to catch up for a chat with Kevin as he'd just completed marathon number four. "Rob and I played together for Leeds and over the years

Yorkshire Businesswoman launching soon

We're getting excited here in the TopicUK office as the launch of Yorkshire Businesswoman magazine gets closer. We are a little over a month away to publishing and already we are having to add more pages due to its popularity. The magazine will feature lots of incredible businesswomen from across the Yorkshire region, as well as fashion, beauty, lifestyle and arts, with future editions also carrying a social diary, something that we are unable to do at the moment due to covid and restrictions p
