A Yorkshire-founded pet food brand has donated 3 tonnes of cat food to Harrogate Cat Rescue, enough to feed 80 cats for an entire year.

Hurayra Pet Food, an award-winning brand launched last year, has made the substantial donation as part of its ongoing support for the local rescue. The company has worked with Harrogate Cat Rescue throughout the past year, helping it care for vulnerable cats from Harrogate and the surrounding area.

The delivery will help the rescue meet one of its largest day-to-day costs. By reducing its food bill, Harrogate Cat Rescue can direct more of its limited funds towards veterinary treatment, shelter and rehabilitation, helping more cats recover and find loving homes.

Alongside its growing international ambitions, Hurayra says supporting animal welfare organisations remains an important part of the company’s identity. The company has supported cat shelters across the UK, and people can go onto the Hurayra website to donate food packages at a reduced rate, directly to a cat shelter of their choice.

Ahitsham Rashid, managing director of Hurayra, said: “Hurayra was founded in Yorkshire, and we are proud that our growth allows us to support organisations making a real difference here in our home county and beyond. Harrogate Cat Rescue carries out incredibly important work for cats and families across the local community. We hope this donation will ease some of the pressure on the rescue and help its dedicated team continue providing the care these cats deserve.”

The premium natural cat food that is free-from fillers including wheat, grain and artificial additives, which is particularly good for cats with digestive issues or dietary restrictions.

Celia, founder of Harrogate Cat Rescue, adds: “This is an extraordinarily generous donation, and we are hugely grateful to Hurayra for its continued support over the past year. Food is one of our most significant and constant expenses, so receiving enough to feed 80 cats for a year will make a tremendous difference. Having a quality product for our cats and kittens to enjoy is just fantastic. We are facing increasing demands for our services so this donation is truly welcomed.”

The donation comes during a significant period of growth for Hurayra Pet Food. Building on its dry cat food range, the business is expanding its offering to include wet food and developing distribution plans for the USA, alongside further expansion into Asian and European markets.

Buyers can purchase Hurayra products and donate directly to Harrogate Cat Rescue at www.hurayrapetfoods.com The product can also be purchased in selected Morrisons stores nationwide.
