Skipton Business Finance CEO Greg Bell has been appointed chair of the UK Finance Product and Service Board for Invoice Finance and Asset-Based Lending, succeeding Laura Murray of HSBC.

The appointment was announced at the UK Finance Invoice Finance & ABL Annual Dinner & Awards in London. Greg will serve a two-year term, representing the wider invoice finance and asset-based lending sector.

With nearly three decades of experience across invoice finance, asset-based lending and commercial finance, Greg has served on the Product and Service Board for a number of years and has been a longstanding advocate for the role specialist finance plays in supporting UK businesses. Greg was also one of the founding directors of Skipton Business Finance, which is now in its 25th year.

Greg said: “It’s a real honour to take on the role of chair at such an important time for the sector.

“Invoice finance and asset-based lending have a vital role to play in supporting ambitious UK businesses, and I want to make sure our industry continues to have a strong, credible voice in the conversations shaping access to finance, SME growth and the wider economy.

“Over the next two years, my focus will be on bringing the industry together around the issues that matter most, strengthening understanding of the value our sector provides and helping shape the next chapter for invoice finance and asset-based lending.”

Matthew Davies, director, Commercial Finance at UK Finance said: “We are delighted to welcome Greg. Having worked closely with him for many years on the Board, we know he will bring valuable insight, experience, and leadership to the role of chair, and will be a strong advocate for the sector and the businesses it supports. We look forward to working with him more closely as Chair to help drive the Board’s agenda and support the continued growth, development and innovation of the sector.”

The appointment comes at a time of continued focus on SME growth, access to finance and the role of specialist funding in supporting businesses across the UK.
