Corporate Trade Supplies (CTS) UK, one of Yorkshire’s fastest-growing businesses, has selected Martin House Children’s Hospice in Boston Spa as its charity partner.

Over the next 12 months, CTS UK, which has sites in Northallerton, Thirsk and Harworth, will be taking part in a range of fundraising events and challenges to help raise vital funds for Martin House.

CTS UK’s managing director Howard Gill explained: “We’re incredibly proud to support Martin House Children's Hospice as our chosen charity. Following a survey inviting suggestions from our team, Martin House was put forward and quickly stood out as a cause close to our hearts.

“This partnership is personal for us. The hospice supported one of our colleagues during a very difficult time, and we’ve seen firsthand the difference they make to families across Yorkshire. As a team, we’re committed to giving back and supporting their incredible work.”

Robyn Mountain-Wade, director of income generation at Martin House Children’s Hospice, added: “We’re honoured to have been chosen by CTS as their charity partner.

“Members of their team have already signed up to some of our upcoming challenges, such as the Great North Run and Yorkshire Three Peaks, showing real commitment to our cause. We will be cheering them on all the way.

“CTS has a personal connection to our hospice, after we supported one of their employees and their family during a very difficult time. This makes our partnership even more meaningful, and we’re delighted to be working together.

“With a year full of fundraising events, challenges and activities already planned, the partnership has got off to a fantastic start - and we’re excited to see everything they achieve.”

Each year, Martin House cares for more than 500 children and young people with serious and complex health needs. The charity’s services are available to families completely free of charge, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It costs around £12 million a year to provide this specialist care, and the majority is funded by voluntary donations and fundraising.

Four members of the CTS team, Tom Mundy, Ben Stacey, Anna Rae Ridings and Callum Wells, are taking part in this year’s Great North Run on Saturday, September 13.

Historic charity whose UK story began in Yorkshire in 1880 takes on new name

A social care charity whose British story began in Yorkshire more than 140 years ago is entering a new chapter as The Do Good Charity. One of the UK’s longest-established social care charities, Saint John of God Hospitaller Services (SJOG) originated in North Yorkshire in 1880. Its roots go back even further – more than 450 years - when Saint John of God dedicated his life to caring for the poor and sick. The religious order that grew from his work became known in Italy as the Fatebenefratel
